Our very own Melissa Iwamoto, Dr. Jordan Watson, and Nicole Guiles recently led a seminar on March 5, 2024, at the UH Mānoa campus. The session, part of the “Slice of PI-CASC” series, focused on the innovative “Backyard Buoys” project. This initiative is all about empowering coastal communities with low-cost, scalable marine technology to monitor real-time wave data, blending Western science with Indigenous Knowledge for a safer, more informed coastal living.
